The Awards and Recognition Committee was founded to promote design excellence among members of the AIA, the broader design community, and the public at large.
Join our Team!
The Committee is led by a volunteer group of architects, designers, allied members & community volunteers who lead the effort to plan and host AIA Orlando's annual Excellence in Design Awards Gala. We have a lot of fun, and we’d love for you to join us.
We meet the 4th Tuesday of each month from noon-1pm, via Zoom. As we get closer to the Gala (November 13th, 2021) we’ll meet more frequently, about every other week for an hour in October and early November.
How could you get involved?

Coordinate the event venue and menu details

Oversee the development of the events graphics

Host a virtual “Tips and Best Practices for Design Awards Submissions” Session

Select the jury and coordinate their deliberation of design submissions

Engage sponsors for the event

Speak at the event – introduce a category, or announce awards

Develop and edit the event script
-
Outreach – remind firms and individuals of upcoming deadlines for submission and encourage participation

Brainstorm and help implement ways to refine and improve the event
